Charlie Kirk won’t be canceled

It has long been known that the pioneers and activists of cancel culture are enemies of free speech. It is surprising that they are now increasingly resorting to weapons to silence political opponents such as Charlie Kirk. What has happened? Since 1968, the New Left has been keen to be seen as a friendly movement that campaigns for human freedom and against discrimination of minorities.

Of course, this was always a deception. Now it is becoming clear that the 68ers were never interested in convincing others with arguments in the context of fair discourse.

For many years, they relied on false promises. They lured the masses into the pseudo-paradise of “sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.” Now that the destruction of individuals, families, and society is becoming increasingly apparent, the new left is resorting to violence, just as the Marxists did in the 20th century. When it became apparent that most people did not want to be “liberated” into a communist paradise, the “old left” quickly mutated into a mass-murdering mob.

The murder of Charlie Kirk shows that even 21st-century neo-Marxists are becoming extremely uncomfortable when it becomes clear that their utopias do not work. When an eloquent Christian and conservative like Kirk uses social media to show millions of people that a Christian-conservative society is the better option, wokies see red. Instead of arguing with the influencer, Kirk is demonized as a hateful right-wing extremist and fascist. No wonder the alleged killer engraved the bullet that killed Kirk with the words: “Hey, fascist! Catch!”

The West in cultural “civil war”

In 1996, Samuel Huntington would hardly have imagined that American politics would soon become the scene of a fierce culture war within its own nation. At that time, the American political scientist published his internationally successful work “The Clash of Civilizations.” In it, he predicted that the US, as the leading power of Western culture in the 21st century, would likely find itself at war with Islamic and Chinese cultures.

9/11 and the resulting wars after 2001 quickly confirmed Huntington's thesis with regard to Islam. And China's sabre-rattling over Taiwan and the South China Sea corroborate his theories in the recent past.

What the political scientist had not foreseen, however, was the bloody cultural conflict between the secular and Christian elites and their respective supporters in the US. This is surprising. After all, this cultural conflict had been going on for a long time. The demands of the 1968 generation were clear and long known. Marx had already called for the final battle against all belief in God and against the family in the 19th century. He postulated the religion of anarchist atheism, which grants every individual the right to live absolutely as he sees fit.

Christian Nation USA

Huntington's lack of foresight is surprising. When he presented his predictions in 1996, it was already foreseeable that the struggle against Christianity, which was dominant in the United States, would soon become violent and bloody.

Marx and his followers had long since committed themselves to the struggle against a powerful Christian adversary. The United States had been founded by Christian immigrants, the Pilgrim Fathers, as a “shining city on a hill.” The Christian faith was fundamental to the development of society and politics. The Declaration of Independence of 1776 stated: “All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Despite the strong Christian influence, the founding fathers of the USA had the wisdom to separate church and state. They had obviously noticed that the unfortunate combination of Christian faith and state rule had often paralyzed and extremely damaged the peoples of Europe since the 4th century AD. So they chose the better system. Instead of a state church, the USA had churches that were to exist in the free market and finance themselves. Weak, lifeless churches quickly disappeared from the scene. Prominent, dynamic churches survived and spread. This is how the USA became a “Christian nation.”

In the great revival movements of the 18th to 20th centuries (Great Awakenings), millions of people were won over to an active church life, which in turn fueled politics with regard to the War of Independence (18th century), the abolition of slavery (19th century), and the fight against communists and Nazis (20th century).

The secularization of the US Democrats

Most US citizens over the past 250 years have been Christians and churchgoers. Pastors preached from the pulpit about the values that should apply in family, society, and politics. Huge church associations (e.g., Baptists, Pentecostals, Catholics) had a major influence on political events with their statements and voting recommendations. Democrats and Republicans were therefore well advised to court the church electorate.

In the mid-20th century, 90 percent of US citizens still professed to be Christian. According to a survey by the Pew Research Center, this figure was still 62 percent in 2020. The secularization of US society over the last few decades is a fact. However, the proportion of regular churchgoers in the US is still 46%. 156 million regular churchgoers are a major political force.

Until a few years ago, it was common for both major US parties to court Christian voters. Since their founding in the late 18th century, the Democrats had also long relied on the Christian socialization of US citizens. At the end of the 20th century, however, the Democratic leadership abandoned its proximity to Christianity. The last Democratic presidents whose political work was guided by Christian values were J.F. Kennedy, L.B. Johnson, and Jimmy Carter. Since Bill Clinton's election in 1993, non-Christian values from the left wing have increasingly dominated the Democratic agenda:

  • National debt (living on credit)
  • Right to abortion
  • Lax or forced immigration policy
  • Climate and world salvation (Al Gore)
  • Liberal marriage and family models, gender

Christian Republicans vs. atheist Democrats

Of course, there are also people among the Democrats who live as Christians. However, the focus in this text is on the public values of the party elites. After all, they are the ones who set the course. The widening divide is unmistakable. Republicans are becoming increasingly Christian, while Democrats are becoming increasingly atheistic.
Since George W. Bush's election campaign in 2000, Republicans have been making increasingly clear efforts to win the support of conservative Christians (evangelicals, Catholics) for their policies. Donald Trump also played this card in 2016, even though he is not exactly considered a model Christian. The fact that he won the election against Hillary Clinton is probably largely due to the votes of conservative Christians.

Trump did not disappoint this voter segment, but instead built further trust by achieving two political victories that were of great importance to evangelicals and Catholics:

  • By appointing conservative figures to the US Federal Court (Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Coney Barrett), Trump changed the political weight of the Supreme Court. This made it possible in 2022 to overturn the nationwide abortion law (Roe v. Wade) and return the relevant legislation to the states. Conservative states have since been able to reimpose a clear pro-life policy.
  • Donald Trump had moved the US embassy to Jerusalem.

Trump also relied heavily on Christian conservatives in his second election campaign in 2024. With J.D. Vance, he entered the race with a candidate for vice president who already had great charisma as a politician, author, and Catholic Christian.

The killer sends Kirk's message around the world

Trump also promised to free the US from climate hype, which many evangelicals consider to be a natural religious delusion. After his election, Trump quickly took a stand against gender ideology. He appointed two people to important offices who openly profess their Christian faith: Catholic Marco Rubio (Secretary of State), evangelical Pete Hegseth (Secretary of Defense), and the Catholic Robert F. Kennedy (Secretary of health). Donald Trump thus decided on a clearly Christian profile for his second presidency. And he publicly honored Charlie Kirk as a young star who mobilizes young people en masse for Christian-conservative politics.

The fact that Kirk inspired millions of young people to embrace conservative politics and the Christian faith was obviously too much for his alleged murderer, Tyler Robinson. The shooter, who had been living with a transgender person until the time of the crime, chose a banal, violent shortcut to prevent the United States from returning to Christian values. But through his murder, the assassin has given Charlie Kirk's message of life a reach and longevity that is now even stronger than before. Around the world, it became clear that a conservative influencer had mobilized an audience of millions for the Christian faith and conservative politics.

Kirk's murder has once again exposed the weakness of the arguments put forward by wokies and genderists. They are finding it increasingly difficult to sell their destructive ideology to the general public. The red-green furor, which canonizes climate and gender and demands total submission, has now cast aside its kid gloves. With an iron fist, the “clash of civilizations” is now to be pushed forward within our societies and decided in favor of the neo-Marxists.

Conservatives in parties and churches are therefore called upon to push their growing movement even more decisively. Freedom and prosperity for the people can only be achieved on a conservative foundation!
